The Year That Changed Us (and What It Taught Me About Distance, Family, and Growth)
A personal note, a quiet reflection, and 9 prompts to help you end 2025 with clarity and intention.
Hi there,
It’s been a while... so first things first: I hope you had a merry (belated) Christmas and I wish you a happy, healthy, and intentional 2026.

From our little family to yours, thank you for being part of this journey.
This past year has been full of movement for us. We started 2025 in Ecuador, and I had the rare gift of visiting my home country (and family) not once but twice.
Kaia turned one, and with that celebration came the kind of growth only parenthood brings. She’s been our mirror and our motivation to keep becoming slightly better versions of ourselves.
We also spent a bit over three months living in Mongolia. And once again, we felt the depth of love from our family and friends across the world. But something else showed up, too.
We came to a realization, being far from our loved ones in this chapter of life hasn’t only been a choice for independence and authenticity. It’s also created space for loneliness to sneak in. And sometimes, that loneliness starts to outweigh the original intention, to build a family our own way, free from the limiting stories of the past.
So here we are. With full hearts, and honest reflection, we step into 2026 with deeper intention, more transcontinental leaps, and a vision for conscious family and business growth.
A Simple Year-End Reset
No journaling marathons. Just honest answers.
Take these to your favorite coffee spot, do it now (if you can make the time) or take them to your kitchen table. Let them guide you gently into closure and clarity.
1. If this year had a headline, what would it be?
No explaining. Just the one sentence that sums it all up. Imagine it printed on the front page of your personal newspaper.
2. What people or activities added energy to my life this year?
Who and what filled your cup? These are your energy-givers. Make a conscious effort to double down on them in 2026.
3. What did I outgrow in 2025 (belief, habit, relationship)?
You’re not who you were in January. What no longer fits? What needs to be released (lovingly and consciously) so you can keep evolving?
4. What did my best days in 2025 have in common?
Think about the days that left you fulfilled, peaceful, or fully alive. What were you doing? Who were you with? The answers hold the pattern for designing a better 2026.
5. On a scale of 1–10, how aligned do I feel with my life right now?
Choose the number that feels true (not the one that sounds nice.) Then ask: Why that number? Your answer reveals what’s working… and what isn’t.
6. What is one non-negotiable I want to honor in 2026?
If life only improved in one area next year, which one would matter most? Draw a line in the sand. This is your priority. Name it. Protect it.
7. What one goal would create the biggest ripple effect in my life?
The kind of goal that, once set, lifts everything. Your health, relationships, clarity, peace of mind. That’s your keystone. Build around it.
You don’t need a new version of yourself next year.
You need fewer leaks, clearer priorities, and honest momentum.
Start here.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for reading, replying, sharing, and growing alongside me.
Even at a distance, you’re part of this journey.
Warmly,
Carlos
